To really see the unfolding of a flower--that fleeting moment between bud and blossom--takes time and patience, a kind of
intimacy that transcends ordinary viewing.
With the detailed and closely cropped images presented in this collection, Todd Blank captures that quiet, delicate drama we
call “Nature,” and powerfully thrusts the observer into this intricate yet pure world. One not only sees but feels; the
paper-thin fragility and translucency of the petals, the stickiness of the pollen clinging to stamen and pistil, as well
as the highly sophisticated reproductive and life-sustaining elements. This collection loudly declares the silent wonder,
magnificence and architectural perfection inherent in the floral universe.
The form, shape and structure revealed in each of Todd’s intimate compositions heightens our consciousness of the natural
world and our connection to it by recalling the sensuous terrain of an unspoiled earthly landscape, the sensual form of
the human figure, or an abstract space and organic architecture.
In his work, Todd is more concerned with subject, scale, detail and composition than simply with technique and digital
technology. His academic training and professional experience as a graphic designer informs his special and acute vision,
making these images possible.
Beyond the technical and formal aspects of his visual exploration, Todd uses his floral discoveries to further his own
understanding of perfection and beauty; aging and decay; metamorphosis and renewal.
Todd Blank’s work is nourishment for the soul, often described as meditative, calming and peaceful. Such response reinforces
his belief in the teaching and healing qualities of art.
This series is printed in limited editions; each print is numbered and signed. They are giclée prints on archival "Hahnemuhle"
